We’ve Seen this in the Hangover! Giraffe Dies Horrible Death After Hitting Highway Bridge.

In what looks like a creepy Deja Vu from the movie Hangover 3, one giraffe has died after sustaining head trauma injuries from hitting its head on a highway bridge while being transported with a companion in South Africa.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) on Thursday confirmed that one giraffe has died. According to Rick Allan of the SPCA, “All we can ascertain at this stage is severe head trauma. We are continuing our investigation with the view to possibly lay criminal charges against those responsible.” He also stated that the animals were being transported in a manner that was incorrect and below standards.

On Thursday, several eyewitnesses posted photographs on Twitter of the giraffe before its death. One of these Twitter users, a South African TV and radio presenter named Pabi Moloi, described the scene to Mashable.

“As I was getting [photographs of the giraffes] the truck went under a bridge and suddenly one of the giraffes hit its head hard on the concrete. The sound was so loud that my cousin, who was driving, asked me if there was someone shooting because she thought she’d heard a gunshot,” she said. “That sound of a skull being hit and the force with which it threw the giraffe’s head forward is something I won’t easily forget.”

And since then, Twitter users have been outraged on the disaster:

Look how low that bridge is and how tall the giraffes are. Who thought this one through? I wish I hadn’t seen this. pic.twitter.com/as2jJkIwpv

We cannot help but wonder how those transporting the giraffes forgot to take note of the height of their animals compared to the height of the bridge.
